Good boots can prevent a multitude of injuries if we have a motorcycle accident. In summer it is known that the motorcycle trips increase. In this post we compare the Sidi Adventure 2 Gore-Tex, the Dainese Solarys Air, the Alpinestars Super Touring Gore-Tex, and we have also included the Alpinestars SMX-1 R, all designed for touring use.
Points in common
Touring boots are designed to offer the best possible balance between comfort and safety when we are on the bike. The four models have numerous protection elements and their objective is none other than to prevent blows and injuries. They are boots that are usually used in a type of driving of risk, especially when we go by curvy roads that involve some risk or in situations with more traffic than usual.
The Sidi Adventure 2 Gore-Tex, the Alpinestars Super Touring Gore-Tex and the Dainese Solarys Air are high-powered. In this way, the foot and a large part of the leg are protected from inclement weather and in case of accident. The SMX-1 R, with a somewhat more sporty style, also are very valid boots for a touring use thanks to the excellent comfort that they offer and its resistance to the abrasion.

Another important feature is that these models have TPU protections at the most critical points and have a higher risk of injury. This TPU is found in the ankle, toe, heel, front of the cane and in the area in contact with the lever of the change.
Finally, there are some particular details in the sole, but the purpose is the same. These are made in non-slip rubber, offering a great grip on wet. In fact, its design has been designed to drain water.
Each of the boots has a different sole design, but all of them are designed for maximum grip and evacuate water.
Sidi Adventure 2 Gore-Tex
Regarding the confection there are some differences between them. The Adventure 2 Gore-Tex are made with very light Technomicro, a material that offers greater resistance to abrasion, tearing and requires less care than leather. In the interior we find a lining with Gore-Tex membrane, waterproof and breathable, thus favoring long trips in all kinds of conditions, also for off-road.
The Sidi Adventure 2 Gore-Tex highlights two aspects: the redesign of the ankle called Flex System, which acts as an axis that articulates the boot, but maintaining the safety against blows and avoiding lateral twisting.

It is also necessary to emphasize the special fabric band on the inner side of the boot, which offers touch and grip to the motorcycle and protects from heat and scratches to the microfiber.
Alpinestars Super Touring Gore-Tex
The Alpinestars Super Touring Gore-Tex are the top boots within the touring range of the Italian brand. They are ideal for traveling anywhere in the world and in all kinds of conditions. In addition to the Gore-Tex, the leather is the main material and stand out for the existence of a generous panel in accordion on the instep and part of the heel. This panel is made of microfiber, a fabric with anti-abrasion properties, but also with a greater degree of flexibility than leather.
The panel in accordion of Alpinestars Super Touring Gore-Tex plays a key role in the comfort of the boot.
Another important point in the construction of the Super Touring is the pre-curved shape in the toe in order to improve the ergonomics, all thought to gain in comfort in long distances.
Dainese Solarys Air
In the Dainese Solarys Air we find more differences than the others models. They are thought for long journeys in summer or half-time. However, the same model is also marketed in Gore-Tex version.
Dainese has chosen to alternate breathable fabric with microfiber panels. Unlike Adventure and Super Touring, the breathable areas are more generous, covering a large part of the foot, the instep, the outer side and the entire rear area of the cane.
As we can see in the picture, the vented areas in the Solarys Air are more numerous than in the other models.
In the inner lining, instead of the Gore-Tex membrane, we find a 3D fabric, padded, microperforated and high breathability.
Regarding the closure, we also see a big difference from Alpinestars and Sidi, because the Solarys Air don't equip micrometric closure or buckles, as do Alpinestars and Sidi. In fact, its closure is only composed of a side zipper with a wide velcro located in the microfiber panels.
The closure of the Dainese Solarys consists of a side zipper with a large Velcro panel.
Alpinestars SMX-1 R
Although they are clearly different boots from the other three, we have included them in this comparative because they are also designed for sport-tourism use. In spite of being of short cane, its advanced microfiber offers comfort, durability and excellent resistance to the abrasion.
Its many technical innovations and high performance adjustments make it a very versatile footwear and can also be used for everyday use.

The flexible accordion panels on the instep and the Achilles heel provide a great freedom of movement. The main closure consists of a side zipper reinforced by a microfibre flap with velcro and another anatomical velcro strap that runs the instep.
Unlike the other models, the SMX-1 R features a slider on the outside of the fingers with a curved design to perfectly fit the profile of the boot and denoting its sporty style.
The slider of the SMX-1 R makes clear that we have a boots with a more sporty character.
The Sidi Adventure 2 Gore-Tex, the Alpinestars Super Touring Gore-Tex and the Dainese Solarys Air are technical touring boots that stand out for their safety and comfort. Without doubt we have three of the best models of boots thought for long trips. The Adventure and the Super Touring, for all the year, and the Solarys Air more focused on the times of more heat.
