The HJC RPHA ST is the Sport-Touring helmet derived from the experience acquired by the Korean brand in competition. The RPHA ST was the winner of the test by the prestigious magazine Motorrad on integral helmets with sun visor. However, we already have available the evolution of this helmet. This is the RPHA 70, HJC's new Sport-Touring full-face helmet, further enhancing the performance of its predecessor.
The most obvious difference with respect to the shell is that the new RPHA 70 incorporates carbon and a hybrid fiber of glass and carbon in its manufacture, while the fiberglass composite is the material used in the ST.
The HJC RPHA 70 shell is made of an advanced composite of carbon glass and a glass and carbon hybrid fibre.
This innovation, branded as PIM + (Premium Integrated Matrix Plus), allows the helmet to offer high impact resistance with a very low weight.
The two helmets have three sizes of outer shell for a better fit for each driver.
Just as the HJC RPHA ST has a very practical entrance and a Max Air-Flow ventilation, with a variable entry in three positions and easily adjustable with gloves, as well as four non-adjustable rear exit points, the RPHA 70 adds some technical and aesthetic innovations that make it a helmet with an advanced ventilation system.
The helmet's ventilation system has an air inlet/outlet on the top part for improved air flow.
The air vents on the top of the shell are adjustable by means of an on / off type closure, while the other two outlet holes are more sophisticated than the ST, guaranteeing the total extraction of the humidity, of the warm air of the interior of the helmet and favoring the aerodynamics thanks to the covers that have incorporated.
At the base of the chin rest we also have a small grid that allows the air flow inside the helmet.
Screen and sun visor
The screen is where we see less changes between the RPHA ST and the RPHA 70, although the second offers a somewhat wider field of vision.
Both have anti-scratch treatment and incorporate Pinlock. The RapidFire screen mechanism allows for rapid, tool less mounting and removal, and is controlled by a spring-loaded control lever.
The integrated solar visor is easily actionable thanks to a mechanism located on the left side of the helmet.
The integrated sun visor also has anti-scratch and anti-fog treatment on both helmets, but the RPHA 70 is more practical and intuitive using the lever located at the base just to the left.
Interior and closure
Inside the helmet is where we see more changes compared to the previous model. The new RPHA 70 features the Multicool system, which has three different textile finishes, each with different functions: the cheek pads optimizes the touch and comfort while the one that surrounds the top of the head combines the correct fit and optimum perspiration. The upper padding allows the correct evacuation of sweat and humidity.
At the base we have a padding with reflective inserts and a rubber crown that prevents the entry of water inside in case of rain. In addition, it has the system of emergency extraction of lateral padding quickly and easily in case of an accident.
At the base of the RPHA 70 (left) we sse the reflective inserts. The paddings (right) have the Multicool system.
The paddings are removable and washable and its design allows the normal use of glasses.
The closure is double buckle in the two helmets, the safest on the market.
In addition, the RPHA 70 has breath guard and chin curtain very comfortable and efficient, as well as the RPHA ST.
Another specific feature of the RPHA 70 is that it has predisposition for the installation of the Smart Bluetooth by Cardo communication system, although it must be purchased separately.
Another novelty of the RPHA 70 is that it has the emergency extraction system of the side padding.
In short, the successful RPHA ST finds in the new HJC RPHA 70 the logical evolution. A very versatile and functional helmet thanks to its innovative ventilation system, the integrated sun visor, the new interior and its new aesthetic style.
